To Kovcheg with love
Last summer I took part in Kovcheg's summer camp and, for me, the experience was highly profound. During those weeks the greatest gift was to be in total harmony with Earth, with Nature, and to experience a feeling with life as if I were river's crystalline water flowing downstream. Day after day I tried to completely surrender myself to that feeling of fullness and to embrace everything from heart.
I arrived in Kovcheg inspired by Anastasia after reading the books of Vladimir Megre. I was in search of sustainable communities that were respectful with the environment, where people were aware of the need to balance the spiritual with the material reality. Now I can say I found everything I was looking for because I discovered a very essential way of living, of relating with nature and people from an inclusive, consistent and respectful mindset. A mindset that filled with awareness, responsibility and intention every action you make throughout the day.
I think Kovcheg goes beyond a physical place and represents the soul of all the diverse people who live there. They welcomed us with open arms, kindly offering their knowledge and encouraging everyone to participate in all the organized activities. Suffice to say that the camp was really well organized, and that Pasha, Sergei and Vera did a great job. They were excellent guides who shared their time and experience with each one of us. Meanwhile, the camp gave us the opportunity to deeply understand ourselves and the others and to create friendships I hope to keep forever.
The activities and the workshops were varied and interesting. In the mornings we used to work together in building our camp. Among other things, we built an oven and a wood shed under which we could meet and eat our meals together. In the afternoons we normally participated in additional activities with the residents of Kovcheg; actors, builders, carpenters, gardeners, acrobats, craftsmen, and many others who gave us the opportunity to learn from them. Finally, in the evenings we used to play volleyball and at night we met in front of the fire to sing, laugh and share a good time. Most of the time it was Russian the language I heard, and despite I could understand very little, I lived those moments beyond words, opening myself to the present moment.
Swimming in the river every day, walking barefoot, eating natural products, dancing alongside wonderful people, working the land with joy and gratitude, all these things gave me authentic and unforgettable moments which made Kovcheg's summer camp one of the best experiences I've ever had. That's why when returning back to the city I felt a little like Tom Hanks in the movie Cast Away, when after a long journey in a lonely island that profoundly transforms him he returns to the civilization and his previous life. Now he feels like a stranger in the midst of so many artificial things. He has changed and won't never be the same person who left before. Likewise, my consciousness has changed and so did my life. I can only thank you friends of Kovcheg, to welcome, guide and inspire me with your example!
